Coach Harold Gonzalez ♟️
Coach Harold Gonzalez is a competitive chess player, chess coach, math teacher, and Data Science Master’s student at New College of Florida. His tournament accomplishments include 2nd Place in the U1600 section of the 2026 World Open, 1st Place in the U1400 Southern Class Tournament, and numerous wins and top finishes in local competition. He currently plays at approximately 2100 Lichess.
Harold directs the Kava Social Chess Club in Bradenton and the SPARC ALC Chess Club, with experience coaching both adults and younger developing players.
His coaching goes beyond simply analyzing games. Harold specializes in developing personalized training methods around each student's playstyle, strengths, weaknesses, and goals. Training can integrate game analysis, tactical puzzles, opening preparation, middlegame and endgame study, reading material, tournament preparation, chess psychology, and structured work between lessons.
The goal isn't just to teach better moves. It's to help students understand their chess, learn how to train effectively, and become confident, independent players. ♟️
