Maxim Farberov
About
US Chess Federation National Master with almost 20 years of playing experience and a decade of coaching/teaching experience. Best results as a player include tied first in the 2023 North American Open U2300 section, and clear first in the 2025 Washington International U2300 section. Also have participated in two prestigious European events, the 49th Open Internacional Vila de Sitges (Barcelona, Spain) and the 2025 London Chess Classic FIDE Open (London, England).
My coaching style centers around game review, I expect my students to play games of rapid and classical time controls that we will then thoroughly analyze together. Especially in the early phase, it will be important for me to get a feel of the students' strengths and weaknesses, and what areas of improvement need focus. From there we'll continue to analyze games but will also work on the areas that need the most attention, whether it's middlegame strategy, understanding of pawn structures, how to correctly attack/defend, endgame technique, etc.
