Chess Coaches in Portugal

The Federação Portuguesa de Xadrez, founded on 22 January 1927 and based in Lisbon, is Portugal's FIDE-affiliated governing body, running the national individual championship (first held in 1911), a team championship, and the Portuguese Chess Cup for registered clubs. Club chess is spread across the country, with clubs from Lisbon, Porto, Coimbra, Vila Nova de Gaia, and Évora forming the backbone of the team championship; Sporting Clube de Portugal has fielded a chess section since 1958, winning national team titles in the early 1960s.
