Titled Chess Coaches in Utah

The Utah Chess Association (UCA) is the state's USCF affiliate and runs the calendar, anchored by the Utah Open each fall at the University of Utah. Salt Lake City carries most of the weekly club activity: the Salt Lake City Chess Club meets at T.F. Brewing, and City Creek Chess Club runs free casual meetups plus a monthly USCF-rated quick tournament. Down in Provo, Chess Knight holds a monthly blitz event at Kiln. On the scholastic side, the Utah Scholastic Chess Committee works under the UCA to run K-12 tournaments and support school clubs across the state, the same pipeline that produced GM Kayden Troff, who won the World U14 Championship in 2012 and earned his grandmaster title in 2014 at just 16.
