Chess Tournaments in South Africa

Chess South Africa (Chess SA) is the country's FIDE-affiliated national federation, formed in 1992 through the merger of bodies that had been racially divided under apartheid, and it now runs national ratings, titles, and championships under the African Chess Confederation umbrella. The roots go back further: the Cape Town Chess Club, founded in 1885, is the oldest surviving club in the country, and Cape Town organized the first South African Chess Championship in 1892.
