The story

How their day came together

The challenge

Live tournaments demand constant updates for players, parents, and tournament directors. Printed schedules and results can create a scramble when pairings change or rounds finish.

Their story

The C4 x SMC collaboration brought together 20 attendees. Josh printed just two QR codes ahead of time. Parents and players could scan them for live pairings, standings, and round times, giving everyone a clear way to follow the event without stacks of printed updates.

How Chess67 helped

Chess67 kept pairings and standings visible while membership checks helped resolve expired memberships before they could delay the rating submission. Josh also reports balanced colors, with no player receiving the same color three rounds in a row. Club emails let him announce tournaments and send illustrated recaps with links.

Results

Josh says the live results allowed prize money to be handed out right after the final round. Membership checks helped avoid delays, and uploading the tournament to USCF for rating was straightforward. USCF rating processing itself is separate.

In Josh's words

“We were able to distribute prize money as soon as the last round finished. With membership issues addressed up front, uploading the tournament to USCF for rating was straightforward.”
