August 2026 2-Day Swiss

This month's tourney will span two Sundays: August 9th and/or 16th (3 rounds each day).
When selecting section(s), players may register for (a) either day or (b) both days.
Registering along with paying the entry fee will officially secure your spot!

Entry Fee

1. Via Zelle or Venmo: $20 for 1 day, $30 for 2 days
2. Via credit card: $22 for 1 day, $33 for 2 days (processing fees)

Tournament Format

1. USCF membership required (it's ok if you're unrated)
2. Sections - Players may either select: (a) either day (Aug 9th or 16th only) or (b) both days. USCF Regular ratings will be used to determine eligibility for sections.
3. Swiss - meaning players are paired each round with opponents who have similar scores
4. G/30 d5 - For each game, each player has 30 min to make all their moves, with a 5-sec delay before each move. This is a dually rated time control, so it'll count towards both USCF Regular & Quick ratings.
5. Byes - For each day, 1 half-point (0.5 pt) bye may be requested while registering as late as 24 hrs before Round 1 starts.
6. $130+ in Prizes! - (Subject to change) For each day, $30 will be awarded to the 🥇 section winners 🥇 (split if tied). In addition, 1 other player will receive $10 for winning the 🏅 Most Outstanding Performance award 🏅.

Full Schedule

1. 4 - 5 PM: Social Hour (optional) - Come say hi & get some friendly games in 🙂
2. 5 - 6:15 PM: Round 1
3. 6:30 - 7:45 PM: Round 2
4. 8 - 9:15 PM: Round 3

Additional Notes

1. Parking - Nearest parking lot (3 min walk) located behind the Blossom Hill Crafts storefront. Limited street parking also
2. Accessibility - Stairs with hand rails
3. Noise - Minimal background noise, as the tourney is held above an active store.
