Quads will be organized and seeded based on age from oldest to youngest! (We need birthdates.) The tournament results will help to determine the truth or falsity of the tournament name claim. One game per week on 7/9, 7/16 and 7/23. Time control: G/70;d5. Entry fee: $15. Prizes per quad: 1st - $40, 2nd - $15. Please register in advance on chess67.com. Payment may be made online or when you check in on 7/9/2026. USCF rated.
Bye requests must be made before registration ends. All will be zero-point byes, unless a make-up game is played and reported by both players before the end of play on 7/23/2026. Makeup games may be coordinated with the scheduled opponent. Opponents are asked to make reasonable efforts to play a makeup game. Nevertheless, if the opponent is not available, the game will be scored as a zero-point bye for the person who requested it and as a bye win for the opponent.
G/70 avoids quick rating yet is long enough for games to be over in time for the old men to get a good night's rest.

Team Trophies! Three players in the rated sections attending the same school (as of the spring 2026 semester). Teams have no upper limit; the more players on a team, the higher the chances for a good result, but only the top 3 players’ results count for the team total. The team gains points by winning or drawing rated games. Points are weighted, with results in higher sections worth more.
Mohar June Chess Tournament – Scholastic and Open Chess Tournament July 25, 2026 Holiday Inn, 909 Holcomb Bridge Rd Roswell, GA 30076 4SS, G/25;d5 5 sections – An Open section for adults and advanced scholastic players, 3 Rated Scholastic-only sections for K-12 players and a Nonrated Scholastic practice section for new and young players. ROUND TIMES: First round is at 10:00AM, rounds 2-4 will start ASAP after the preceding rounds finish with a slightly longer break for lunch between rounds 2 and 3. We are usually done around 4 – 4:30 PM. **NONRATED SECTION:** The Nonrated section is for new/unrated players and players rated below 300 who need practice. While the rules of chess still apply, this is a more relaxed game designed to let new and young players experience chess without worrying about ratings. New players may choose to play in the Under 400 section if they want to become rated. 3 SCHOLASTIC-ONLY RATED SECTIONS: Under 400, Under 800 and Under 1200: These sections require an active US Chess Federation membership (https://new.uschess.org/join-us-chess). New players wanting a rating play in the Under 400. **OPEN SECTION:** This Section is available to both adults and scholastic players. Scholastic players rated over 1199 must play in this section; however, any scholastic player rated 1000+ may choose to play in either the Open or kids-only Under 1200 section. Players will be placed in the section that matches their rating unless granted an exemption by the Tournament Director. Rated sections may be combined at TD discretion. **ENTRY FEE:** Registration received till 15th July is $40. Late registration begins from 20th July to 24th July for $45. Same day, onsite registration is $50 and must be completed by 9:00AM to be paired for Round 1. Late sign ups may receive a ½ point round one bye. **REGISTRATION:** ++CLICK HERE++, fill out the form, and pay via Zelle to m.mohua@gmail.com **BYES:** If you have a scheduling conflict and plan to skip one or two rounds, 1/2 Point Byes are available and should be requested at the time of registration. **INDIVIDUAL PRIZES:** Trophies for 1st, 2nd, 3rd place in each SCHOLASTIC section and cash or gift cards for the Open section. **TEAM PRIZES:** Team Trophies to top 3 schools based on weighted points of 4 players. Must have a minimum of 3 players from the same school playing in the USCF Rated Sections to qualify for Team Prizes. FOOD – We plan to have food vendors to supply snacks and lunch.
