MERCURY PAWN: JULY 2026 SCHOLASTIC/OPEN

Where: 284 SR-314 S Suite D Fayetteville, GA 30214 (Mathnasium Tutoring Center)
Who: All chess players of all ages (rated and unrated)
Why: To encourage enthusiasm for the game and promote the growth of chess in Georgia
4 sections: 3 for K-8 Scholastic: Unrated; Rated under 500; Rated under 1000; 1 Section for High School and Adult students: Open Rated Sections may be merged at the organizer’s discretion. Players in rated sections must have a current USCF membership. To start or renew membership go to: https://new.uschess.org/join-us-chess.
Cost: $30 entry fee by June 30; $35 fee by July 10; $40 at the site, if space available.

Additional Details:

• All players will participate in 4 rounds regardless of wins/losses.
• Game clocks will be provided last 10 minutes. However, participants might bring own clock. Rounds will be about 1 hour max (each player has 30 min and 5 seconds delay after each move).
• Onsite Registration at 9:00 a.m., if space is available. Check in: 9:30 Review Rules: 9:45 First Round: 10:00am
• All young players must be accompanied by an adult during the entire event.
