Fox Valley Thursdays: Spring B

Fox Valley Thursdays is a supervised open play series designed for players who already know how to play and want consistent, structured games each week.

This Spring B session runs for four Thursdays in April and provides a fun, competitive environment where players are paired with a variety of opponents.

All equipment is provided, and games are supervised to ensure fair play, minimize disputes, and keep rounds running smoothly.

Important notes:

• This is open game play, not a lesson

• Players should already know how to play chess

• Pairings are managed to give players a range of opponents

• Games are generally unrated but follow standard chess rules

Club expectations:

• Check in with Coach Bill upon arrival before playing

• Report results promptly after each game

• Immediate rematches are discouraged to allow rotation

• No eating at the boards

• Be respectful with communication and attendance

For younger players:

Children below high school age must have a parent remain on site. This is required.

Additional guidance:

• Notation should only be used if both players agree

• Bathroom breaks should be taken between games

• Players should communicate if they cannot attend after registering
