Chess tournament: Middle Georgia Spring Open, G/30;+5 Saturday, May 9th, 2026, 10am – 5pm, Byron, GA

EVENT OVERVIEW

Rounds: 5 rounds, Swiss system.

Sections: Sections are assigned based on players’ Regular ratings published on official USCF (US Chess Federation) website. All participants must be registered USCF members. Memberships can be applied for on-site. Membership costs depend on age and are separate from the registration cost of this tournament.

Open (1400+): Open to USCF rated 1400 and above.

Reserve (U1400): Open to USCF rated under 1400 and Unrated.

Prizes: 100% of proceeds go to winners. Prizes are based on 40 registrations.

Open section: 1st $360, 2nd $240, 3rd $140.

Reserve section: 1st $240, 2nd $140, 3rd $80.

Time control: 30 minutes per game with 5 second bonus per move. USCF dual-rated (Regular and Quick).

Byes: 1/2-point byes available. Must be requested before 9:45am. 0-point bye’s available any time for any round.

Equipment: Please bring chess clock(s) if available.

Schedule: Saturday, May 9th , 2026, 10am start. On-site registration ends at 9:45am.

All players, including pre-registrants, check in by 9:45am; call/text if going to be late.

Rounds: 1st round 10am, 2nd round 11:15pm, (lunch break 12:30am), 3rd round 1pm, 4th round 2:30pm, 5th round 4pm.

Treat: Complementary lunch (pizza & drinks).
