SCC 2026 Fall Grand Prix

Join us each Thursday at The Stable Bar & Grill on the Superior Sports Stable for some Casual Chess or to play in the Superior Grand Prix Seasonal USCF-Rated Chess Tournament (only $5 collected onsite)!

Casual chess is always FREE! Come to learn or play with family and friends in a fun atmosphere with food and beverages!

Please bring your own tournament size board, pieces, and clock to play in the tournament.
We are a new chess club so only a few chess sets and clocks will be available while we grow.

Superior Grand Prix Tournament Schedule

Each week we'll play a standard USCF Quad Tournament, which is like a mini-Round Robin with three Rounds of G20/d5 (USCF Quick Rating). Members will be awarded Grand Prix Points based on where they place in their Quad after completing three rounds (see below). Each player accumulates GP points for their top weekly GP Scores throughout the 3-month "Season" (you don't have to play in every single weekly Quad to compete on equal footing!). A Grand Prix Season Leaderboard will be maintained ranked by the total GP points in each player's top 8 weekly GP scores throughout the current Grand Prix Season (see examples below).

There are NUMEROUS ways to win Cash Prizes at the end of each Grand Prix Season:

• Gold, Silver, and Bronze Ca$h Prizes for the Grand Prix Season Champions: Top 3 Players on the Leaderboard!
• USCF Class Champions: Ca$h Prizes for the top player by GP points in each USCF Class!
• Additional Ca$h Performance Awards: Giant Killer, Most improved, Highest Win %, and Longest Hot Streak!

In a Quad tournament players are ranked by USCF Rating highest to lowest and broken into groups of four starting from the top. This way each "Quad" of four players should be as closely rated as possible for the players who participate each week. Each player then plays the other three players in the Quad in a mini-Round Robin with standard tournament scoring for the Quad: 1 pt for a win, .5 pt for a draw, 0 pt for loss, no Byes. Upon completion of the 3 rounds players are awarded Grand Prix Points based on their placement in the Quad RR as follows:

• 1st = 4 GP pts
• 2nd = 3 GP pts
• 3rd = 2 GP pts
• 4th = 1 GP pts

Important Notes!

• Grand Prix points and standings will be tracked manually outside Chess67.
• Do NOT expect to play chess in a quiet "chess tournament hall" environment! This venue is a family-oriented community bar and grill and is a fun, family atmosphere so there will be lots of noise and distraction!
• Delicious food and beverages are always available, so please show our gracious hosts your gratitude by enjoying a drink, appetizers or dinner!
