2026 Texas State Girls’ Championship

The 2026 Texas State Girls’ Championship is an official Texas state championship for eligible female players who live in Texas or attend a Texas school, including homeschool students.

Eligibility and memberships

Players must be female Texas residents or students enrolled in Texas schools, including homeschool students. Active US Chess and Texas Chess Association memberships are required.

Sections

• High School: grades 9–12
• Middle School: grades 6–8
• Elementary: grades K–5
• Primary: grades K–3
• Kinder–1st

Sections may be merged depending on the number of entries.

Schedule and format

The event uses a 4-round Swiss format with G/60; d10 time control. Round times are:

• Round 1 — 9:00 AM
• Round 2 — 12:00 PM
• Round 3 — 2:30 PM
• Round 4 — 5:00 PM

Players may request up to one half-point bye, except for the final round. The tournament is US Chess rated, not FIDE rated, and operates under US Chess rules.

Prizes

Trophies will be awarded to the top five players in each section. Team trophies will be awarded to the top two teams in each section.

Entry fees

• Regular entry: $65
• Entry after September 27, 2026: $75
