Livingston Junior Chess Series- October Quads

The second tournament of our Junior Chess Series! This event will be a quad tournament- participants will be split into sections of four players close to each other in rating to keep the games as competitive as possible! Every quad will consist of 3 rounds as all players will play the other 3 in their section with alternating colors (color toss in round 3). In the event of an uneven number of participants some section(s) may be modified to a mini-swiss. Trophies to winners in each section, plus additional mini prizes for 2nd-4th place finishers!

Time control: G/30 d5 for lower quads, G/40 d5 for sections w/ avg rating of 1000+ USCF
First round at 10:30 AM, rest ASAP. Lower quads should be completed by 1:30 PM, 1000+ by 2:30 PM

Important point on keeping notation: All players are required to record moves in USCF rated play, until one or both players have less than 5 mins remaining on their clocks. For players in grades 2 and up who don't keep notation (unless director is presented with a valid religious/medical excuse), 5 mins will be deducted from their starting time. For players in grades K-1, 5% of their starting time will be deducted if they are not recording but their opponent is. If you have any concerns about this matter, or would like to request for your child to have a scorekeeping assistant, please contact the director before the start of the event.
