Chess Atlanta was founded in 2003 by Carlos Perdomo, International Chess Master. Coach Carlos founded Chess Atlanta to increase the chess presence in the metro Atlanta area, provide more young students the opportunity to learn in a chess club environment, and to help foster good sportsmanship among the growing number of young chess players.

Knowledge and experience is a fundamental core of instruction, and Coach Carlos leads the way with distinction. As an International Master, winner of three GA State Championships, and one of the top five highest rated players in Georgia continuously since 2002, Coach Carlos has over twenty years of providing quality instruction to students of all ages. Under his leadership, the Emory University Chess Team defeated Duke, Yale, and Stanford in 2004. Additionally, many of his younger students have gone on to victory at local, regional, state, and national competitions.
