Marietta Stonehaven Scholastic Chess Tournament

The Marietta Stonehaven Chess Club hosts regular USCF-rated scholastic tournaments open to all students in grades K-12.

Tournament Format

• 3-round Swiss
• Time control: G/25; d5 (each player receives 25 minutes per game with a 5-second delay)

USCF-Rated Sections

• Beginner (unrated-399)
• Intermediate (400-749)
• Advanced (750+)
• Note: Players rated within 100 points may choose to play up one section. Unrated players may contact TD if they want to request to play up. Sections may be combined at TD discretion.

Schedule

• Arrive between 8:40-8:50. You can park in the main lot, which faces Pearson Middle School, at the side lot near the playground, or at Pearson. Either way, you will enter through the front door (at the main lot) into the main office and then through to the library to await announcements and instructions for the morning. Signs will help direct you to the right place.
• Round 1: 9:00AM
• Subsequent rounds begin immediately after the previous round. Pairings and results will be posted through Chess67.
• The tournament usually ends around 11:45AM.
• All chess sets and clocks are provided, so you don't need to bring anything, though a water bottle and snack might be a good idea.

• Entry fee: $30
• Registration deadline: October 2
• Limit: 60 players
• No on-site registration
• Paid US Chess membership required

Awards

• Top score (and ties) in each section receives a medal.
• All participants will receive a ribbon.
