4-Round Swiss System. G/40,d5. USCF Dual-Rated. Maximum 16 players. Please register online and pay at check-in. Entry Fee: $20. 90% of fee is returned in cash prizes. Number of sections and amount of cash prizes depends on number of entrants and rating distribution. Number of sections will be determined and announced after check-in closes. Prizes will be announced before Round 2. Check-in between 9 am and 9:20 am. One half-point bye is available if requested BEFORE check-in ends; it may be requested during online registration. Any bye requests made after check-in ends will be honored for zero-points. Round times: 9:30 am, 11:00 am, 12:30 pm and 2:00 pm. The tournament should end by about 3:30 pm.

Food and (non-alcoholic) beverages are permitted and recommended, but please be careful! We are responsible for clean-up and may be charged if the rooms are not returned in the same condition as when access is first given.

2026 Texas State Girls’ Championship

The 2026 Texas State Girls’ Championship is an official Texas state championship for eligible female players who live in Texas or attend a Texas school, including homeschool students.

Eligibility and memberships

Players must be female Texas residents or students enrolled in Texas schools, including homeschool students. Active US Chess and Texas Chess Association memberships are required.

Sections

• High School: grades 9–12
• Middle School: grades 6–8
• Elementary: grades K–5
• Primary: grades K–3
• Kinder–1st

Sections may be merged depending on the number of entries.

Schedule and format

The event uses a 4-round Swiss format with G/60; d10 time control. Round times are:

• Round 1 — 9:00 AM
• Round 2 — 12:00 PM
• Round 3 — 2:30 PM
• Round 4 — 5:00 PM

Players may request up to one half-point bye, except for the final round. The tournament is US Chess rated, not FIDE rated, and operates under US Chess rules.

Prizes

Trophies will be awarded to the top five players in each section. Team trophies will be awarded to the top two teams in each section.

Team Trophies! Three players in the rated sections attending the same school (as of the spring 2026 semester). Teams have no upper limit; the more players on a team, the higher the chances for a good result, but only the top 3 players’ results count for the team total. The team gains points by winning or drawing rated games. Points are weighted, with results in higher sections worth more.

Mohar National day Chess Tournament – Scholastic and Open Chess Tournament October 11, 2026 Mohar Chess Academy — 3170 Peachtree Pkwy Ste 113, Suwanee, GA 30024, USA 4SS, G/25;d5  4 sections – An Open section for adults and advanced scholastic players, 2 Rated Scholastic-only sections for K-12 players and a Nonrated Scholastic practice section for new and young players. ROUND TIMES:  First round is at 10:00AM, rounds 2-4 will start ASAP after the preceding rounds finish with a slightly longer break for lunch between rounds 2 and 3. We are done around 4 – 4:30 PM. NONRATED SECTION: The Nonrated section is for new/unrated players and players rated below 300 who need practice. While the rules of chess still apply, this is a more relaxed game designed to let new and young players experience chess without worrying about ratings. New players may choose to play in the Under 400 section if they want to become rated. 2 SCHOLASTIC-ONLY RATED SECTIONS: Under 600 and Under 1200: These sections require an active US Chess Federation membership (https://new.uschess.org/join-us-chess).
