4-Round Swiss System. G/40,d5. USCF Dual-Rated. Maximum 16 players. Please register online and pay at check-in. Entry Fee: $20. 90% of fee is returned in cash prizes. Number of sections and amount of cash prizes depends on number of entrants and rating distribution. Number of sections will be determined and announced after check-in closes. Prizes will be announced before Round 2. Check-in between 9 am and 9:20 am. One half-point bye is available if requested BEFORE check-in ends; it may be requested during online registration. Any bye requests made after check-in ends will be honored for zero-points. Round times: 9:30 am, 11:00 am, 12:30 pm and 2:00 pm. The tournament should end by about 3:30 pm.
Food and (non-alcoholic) beverages are permitted and recommended, but please be careful! We are responsible for clean-up and may be charged if the rooms are not returned in the same condition as when access is first given.

Entry Fee: Members: $38 if pre-registered by 10/7; $43 by 10/11; $48 on-site. Non-Members: $45 if pre-registered by 10/7; $50 by 10/11; $55 on-site. The field is limited to the first 40 registrants. Team Trophies! Three players in the rated sections attending the same school (as of the spring 2026 semester). Teams have no upper limit; the more players on a team, the higher the chances for a good result, but only the top 3 players’ results count for the team total. The team gains points by winning or drawing rated games. Points are weighted, with results in higher sections worth more.
Mohar National day Chess Tournament – Scholastic and Open Chess Tournament October 11, 2026 Mohar Chess Academy — 3170 Peachtree Pkwy Ste 113, Suwanee, GA 30024, USA 4SS, G/25;d5 4 sections – An Open section for adults and advanced scholastic players, 2 Rated Scholastic-only sections for K-12 players and a Nonrated Scholastic practice section for new and young players. ROUND TIMES: First round is at 10:00AM, rounds 2-4 will start ASAP after the preceding rounds finish with a slightly longer break for lunch between rounds 2 and 3. We are done around 4 – 4:30 PM. NONRATED SECTION: The Nonrated section is for new/unrated players and players rated below 300 who need practice. While the rules of chess still apply, this is a more relaxed game designed to let new and young players experience chess without worrying about ratings. New players may choose to play in the Under 400 section if they want to become rated. 2 SCHOLASTIC-ONLY RATED SECTIONS: Under 600 and Under 1200: These sections require an active US Chess Federation membership (https://new.uschess.org/join-us-chess). New players wanting a rating play in the Under 600. OPEN SECTION: This Section is available to both adults and scholastic players.
